Building Control

Our building control experts are responsible for checking submitted drawings, specifications and calculations for compliance with building regulations.

They inspect works on site throughout the borough to ensure standards of the health and safety of people; the structural stability of buildings and energy efficiencies are achieved.

We give advice to householders, developers and businesses as to the requirements and extent of building regulations.

We have a duty to ensure that any reported dangerous  building or structure in the borough is speedily dealt with to avoid undue risk to people, and we also carry out duties regarding the demolition of buildings.
