Former Tram Bridge Improvements
Work due to begin on former Tram Bridge over the River Ribble linking Preston and South Ribble
Lancashire County Council working in partnership with Preston Council have this week unveiled new designs for the new tram bridge and have announced that work is due to commence on 25 March.
The replacement of the bridge is being funding from the £20m Levelling Up Fund awarded to Preston City Council by the Department of Levelling Up Housing and Communities (DLUHC). Lancashire County Council are providing an overall grant of £1m towards LUF Active Travel projects which includes contributions to the new tram bridge.
Planned public right of way closures
The work to replace the old Tram Bridge will require a number of closures from Monday 25 March 2024 for 12 months to the public rights of way network on the south side of the river within South Ribble. This is to ensure public safety while the bridge is under construction.
Clear signage and directions will be displayed clearly on site and the public are being urged to follow the diversions that will be in place.
