Paying your Council Tax
There are many ways you can pay your Council Tax.
You can pay your Council Tax in monthly instalments, or in a lump sum when you get your bill. We will assume you will pay monthly unless you tell us otherwise.

Other ways to pay
At your local Post Office
If you wish to pay at any Post Office or Pay Point location you will need the barcode that is included on the front of any letters we have sent you.
If you wish to pay by BACS transfer, the council's bank details are:
Barclays Bank plc.
Account Name: South Ribble Collection A/C
Sort Code: 20-69-93
Account No: 73548465
If the ways of paying outlined on this page are not suitable for you, you can also pay by cheque by posting your remittance to:
South Ribble Borough Council
Please write your account reference on the back of your cheque. If you require a receipt, you must enclose a stamped addressed envelope.
What if I cannot pay?
If you cannot make the payments shown on your bill you must contact us as soon as possible.
If you do not make contact and simply fail to pay, you will receive a reminder a few days after the payment was due. In most circumstances, we will be able to make a special arrangement with you. However, the longer you leave contacting us, the more difficult it will be to make an arrangement and the payments under the arrangement will be higher.
Unless you have opted to pay by direct debit, your instalments will probably be due on the first day of the month.
If you need debt advice, you can get independent advice in South Ribble from both the Citizens' Advice Bureau and the Lancashire County Council Welfare Rights Service.
