Holiday Activities and Food Scheme

We deliver a programme of activities as part of the HAF scheme.

The Holiday Activities and Food (HAF) scheme aims to provide healthy food and enriching activities for children aged 4 to 16 who are eligible for benefit-related Free School Meals.

Next HAF Sessions:

  • TBC

What is HAF?

The national HAF scheme has been running in South Ribble since 2021 and is only available in the Summer, Christmas and Easter holidays, but the council wanted to ensure that families could also access the support in October and February half terms.

Our programme for October 22 and February 23 Half Term - HAF Plus - were an add on supported by the Council to the Holiday Activity and Food Programme (HAF) which is a national, Government funded scheme.

The fun activities on offer at our South Ribble Leisure Centres often include swimming, gymnastics, tennis and gym sessions.

This provision:

  • Is free of charge
  • Offers fun activities and experiences
  • Includes free food and refreshments
gym
gym 2
tennis

Is my child eligible?

If you live in the Borough of South Ribble, your child is aged 4-16 and eligible for benefit-related Free School Meals, then yes.

Where it is a family activity (e.g. family swimming for four) if one child is eligible the rest of the family can attend.

If your child isn't eligible for Free School Meals but would like to attend, you are welcome to turn up on the day and they are welcome to join in if there is availability in the session.

How do I book a place for my child?
