Large item collections

We provide a special collection service for bulky items of household waste.  If you have got household rubbish that is too big for your bin such as an old fridge, television, mattress, or chair then we can collect it.

Before you make a request, have you considered donating your item to a reuse charity?  If you have furniture that is clean, in a reasonable and reusable condition it may be suitable to donate and some charities collect household items free of charge.

You can donate to charities such as:

St Catherine's Hospice

Derian House

Emmaus

You can also dispose of bulky household items free of charge at the Household Waste Recycling Centre on Flensburg Way.

Arrange a bulky waste collection

There is a charge for us to collect bulky items of household waste from your home. The charge for the collection of up to four non-electrical items is £17, with additional items costing £4.50 each. Electrical household items are currently charged at £13 per item.

You will be given a date of collection at the time of booking so you know when to have your items ready. They should be accessible outside your home from 7:30am on your day of collection.

Please note that we are unable to collect the following items:

  • Fixtures and fittings like kitchen units and bathroom suites
  • Rubble and hardcore
